About the Site

This site was created by Rachel Wilson, a senior History student attending Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. The website takes the place of a traditional term paper for the course, Food, Culture, and History of East Asia, instructed by Professor Dean. Rachel will graduate in December of 2019 with a major in History along with a minor in Political Science.

Throughout the course, students have learned the impact of food on the culture and history of East Asia. In times of war, famine, or prosperity in the region, food always played a vital role. This website will serve as an informative piece to communicate to readers that not only does food impact East Asian history and culture, but the entire globe's culture and history. Many foods become transcontinental and take different forms yet serve the same purpose for individuals. Many foods, especially dumplings of all shapes, sizes, and varieties create a bond between people and feel like home.
